James was born in Minneapolis, MN and raised in St. Louis, MO. He attended the University of Missouri – Columbia and graduated with a degree in Accounting. He was active in his fraternity Delta Upsilon and held several offices including pledge eductator. After graduating in four years he accepted a positions in sales with Maytag Appliances in Newton, IA. His sales career took him to Atlanta, GA, Greenville, SC and finally Baltimore, MD. While in Baltimore he began working on his M.B.A., which he later completed in Detroit, MI at Wayne State University. He ended up leaving Baltimore and sales to pursue an opportunity in Human resources working with the sales organization in Detroit, MI. That position took him back to Maytag’s corporate headquarters in Newton, IA. While at headquarters he had the opportunity to lead teams in Sales Education and Retail Communications Support. In 2005 Lunders was hired as an Agency Intern, specifically to train for his future role as an Insurance Agent.

In October 2006 James opened his Agency on Mills Civic Parkway, just 1/4 mile east of I-35, in the shadows of Valley High School Football Stadium and the West Des Moines City Hall. The agency has a team of fully licensed insurance professionals, along with Lunders who is also licensed to sell securities in Iowa.

Since its inception, the agency has experience significant growth and has been recognized by the community for its outstanding contributions. In 2007 the agency participated in the Kids Safety Safari program to create ID’s to protect kids & the Asian Alliance Festival. James is a member of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA)

James has been involved with numerous community events including coaching in the Johnston Girls Softball League, Coaching in the Johnston Soccer Club, Co-founding the Best Estates Dart League, and is involved with his church’s Catholic Family Movement program.

When not working, James enjoys spending time with his wife Maria, his children, Katelyn (12) and Brittany (9). He also enjoys running, golf, college sports, darts, woodworking and working around the house.
